A memorial gathering for Marvin G. Schreur, age 79, of Milaca, will be held Thursday, April 05, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. Burial will take place at a later date in the Pease Cemetery.
Marvin George Schreur was born September 22, 1938 to George and Dena (Vedders) in Milo Township, Mille Lacs County, Minnesota. He attended Pease Christian School and graduated from Milaca High School. He then served in the Enlisted Reserved Corps for two years overseas. When he returned, he began farming and also did custom work for area farmers. He ran the Milo Township road grader for 29 years.
Marvin enjoyed vintage tractors, flying radio-controlled airplanes, playing cards, weekly cribbage competition with friends, horseshoes, and pretty much any competitive game or sport. He especially loved spending time with family and friends. Marvin was generous, kind, and spoiled kids with treats and gifts. He always had a quick, witty response, which was part of his wonderful sense of humor.
Marvin passed away at his residence on March 21, 2018.
Marvin is survived by his brother, Eugene Schreur and family; sister-in-law, Irene Schreur and family; also by Jay Roelofs, Tim and Lois Roelofs, Troy, Kayla, and Henry Roelofs, Jessie Roelofs (fiancé Raymond Minge), many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Winnie Roelofs Schreur; brother, Fritz Schreur, and step-brother, Danny Roelofs.
