Mary Kyle

Mary Ann Kyle, passed away peacefully at 87 years old in the Milaca Elim Home on January 19, 2024. She was born to Norval and Ann (Hustad) Adamson on September 19, 1936 in Dawson, MN. Mary had a passion for music throughout her life and enjoyed playing the piano and the trumpet from a young age. She graduated from Echo High School and then attended Saint Paul Bible College, now Crown College. 

There, she met and married her husband, Tom Kyle. They were married on July 6, 1957 in Echo, MN and had three daughters. They moved to Milaca, MN where Tom pastored the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. In 1965, Tom, Mary, and the family left Milaca to serve the Lord as missionaries in Brazil, working in evangelism and church planting through the C & MA. Mary served alongside Tom faithfully in Brazil before moving back permanently to the United States in 1980. Mary enjoyed serving in many ministry roles and locations as a pastor's wife. After Tom passed in 2009, she continued to play piano and helped lead church programming for many years at the Milaca Baptist Church. Mary later married Phil Osterhus in December of 2017, during their time together they traveled often.

Throughout her life Mary appreciated a quality cup of coffee, her specialty was Norwegian egg coffee. She loved serving in the church, visiting with friends, and spending time with family. Mary's kind heart, sweet smile, and musical gifts will be missed by all who loved her. Her deep faith and servant heart is her legacy to friends and family.

Mary Kyle is survived by her second husband, Phil Osterhus; children, Lynnette Kyle, Laurie Wright (Ken), and Tami Shutt (Randy);  grandchildren, Luke Anderson (Ishael), Kailee Kolade (Segun), Marissa Kuik (Drew), Kristin Shutt, Jessica Shutt, Lindsey Shutt;  great-grandchildren, Joziah Anderson, Gideon Kolade, Simon Kuik, and Noelle Kuik. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Norval and Ann Adamson, her brother, Paul Adamson, and her husband, Tom Kyle.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2 PM at Milaca Alliance Church.  Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
