Michael Nelson

Michael Edward Nelson, age 83, of Sartell, passed away March 13, 2025, leaving behind a life filled with love, laughter and meaningful conversations.

He served as a US Marine from 1959 to 1963, stationed at El Toro and was deployed to Philippines.

Michael was a man who loved to engage in discussions about politics, religion, and the world around him. His passion for ideas were unmatched and he never hesitated to share his thoughts, challenge perspectives, or simply enjoy a good debate with those he loved.

Above all he cherished his family whether it was a holiday gathering, a simple meal or just sitting together sharing stories.

He is survived by his son, Jeff and wife Anne; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother, Gary (Georgia) Nelson; sisters, Ann (Maurice) Anding and Mary (Mel) Preusser. He is now reunited with his parents, Chester and Ellen Nelson; sister, Jane and brother-in-law Dennis Meland and brother, Brad Nelson.

His presence will be deeply missed but his love and spirit will remain in our hearts forever.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca, Minnesota. Interment with full military honors will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
