Paul Clifford Wentzlaff was born in St. James, MN on August 11, 1961 to Edward and Alice (Mork) Wentzlaff. On the morning of January 13, 2023, he passed away suddenly of a heart attack.
Paul was energetic and outgoing, and a reliable friend to anyone who needed one. He was very close to his family and enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible. He would often drive several hours to attend and cheer on his great nieces and nephews at their sports games no matter the day or weather, and would always make time to meet his son, sisters, and brother for a meal or coffee.
Paul and his only child, Christopher Wentzlaff, shared a love for history, politics, and music. They were known to spend hours discussing and analyzing the latest happenings in the world. Paul and Christopher were fortunate to share one last trip together to Decorah, IA for a Christmas Concert at Luther College a month before his unexpected passing. The trip was so memorable that they were already planning the next one.
Paul's commitment and unwavering support extended beyond his family. Paul was a successful account executive in St. Cloud and truly loved his co-workers and clients. His openness, positivity, and non-judgemental demeanor allowed him to make friends wherever he went, and he always strived to make people feel welcome and included. His joyful and warm presence will be remembered.
Paul is survived by his son Christopher (Christine) Wentzlaff, sister Judy (Bill) Atkinson, sister Mary Flock, brother Peter (Kim) Wentzlaff, sister-in-law Carol Wentzlaff, and a tremendous amount of nieces, grand nieces and nephews, and friends. Paul is preceded in death by his parents Edward Wentzlaff and Alice (Mork) Wentzlaff, brother Steven Wentzlaff, and brother-in-law John Flock.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Saturday, February 4th, 2023 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milaca, MN. Visitation will take place one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers a contribution to the Tri-County Humane Society, P.O. Box 701, St. Cloud, MN 56302, would be appreciated.
