Richard Gustafson

Funeral services for Richard Gustafson, age 91, of Milaca, will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Milaca. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery. Richard Gustafson was born to Charles and Blanche (Raven) Gustafson on July 15, 1926 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. When he was nine years old, his family moved to a farm in Oak Park, where he attended and graduated from Foley High School. On May 19, 1950 he was united in marriage to Lois Soule at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Princeton. The couple made their home on a farm near Milaca for 47 years. They were blessed with four children, Rick, David, Jane, and Marlys. Richard worked at the Mille Lacs County Times for 32 years, and another 10 years at Central Graphics printing. Richard and Lois moved to Milaca in 1997. He worked at various jobs until he was 84 years old. After retiring, he loved to bike riding and having coffee with friends.Richard was a faithful member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, where he loved singing in the choir.Richard passed away at the Milaca Rehab and Care Center on November 08, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Lois of 67 years; children, David of Palisade, MN, Jane (Bernie) Marquardsen of Milaca; grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Westlund of Delano, Christopher (Tracy) Gustafson of Becker, Nicole Gustafson of Brainerd, Jeff (Christy) Gustafson of Holdingford, Carrie (Todd) Jahnke of Shorewood, and Kevin Marquardsen of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren; one great-great grandson; nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Marlys; son, Rick, sister, Della (Julius) Vetvick, and brother, Gene.
