Richard Hoeck, age 81, of Milaca, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11 AM at First Baptist Church in Milaca. Interment with full military honors will follow at Borgholm Cemetery near Bock. Visitation will take place from 10 - 11 AM at the church on Saturday.
Richard John Hoeck was born on August 17, 1942, in Clear Lake, MN to Henry and Frances (Johnson) Hoeck, the youngest of five children. He served five years in the Marine Corps from 1961-1966, where he spent approximately 9 months in Vietnam. Richard was awarded the purple heart and silver star on August 18, 1965 for his valiant efforts. He then went to El Toro (Santa Ana), CA where he served his last few months. He worked at Hoffman Engineering in shipping and receiving department from 1972-2003. After completing his service with the Marine Corps, he married Delores DeSersa of Rock Springs, Wyoming in 1967, they had three daughters Roselyn, DeAnn, and Sandy.
On February 16, 1980, he married Kathleen Samson and had two boys, Brian and Matthew. He enjoyed camping and spending time with family and friends. In his spare time, he would volunteer to give other veterans in the community rides to their appointments. Richard was a member of the Milaca American Legion and VFW. Richard passed away on February 18, 2024 in Little Falls, MN. Richard was residing at the Little Falls Health Services Nursing Home up to his passing.
He is survived by wife, Kathleen (Samson) Hoeck; sons, Brian Hoeck and Matthew (Tiffany) Hoeck and their daughters, Madison and Alexis; daughter, DeAnn Morneau and her children, Christopher, Jordan, and Dakota; daughter, Sandra Yerke and her children, Joseph, and Julia; brother, Ronald (Doreen) Hoeck; two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Henry Hoeck; daughter, Roselyn Hoeck; brother Harland and sisters, Roselyn and Dolores.
