A Celebration of Life for Roger Schendel, age 80, of Milaca, will be held Monday, April 8, 2019 from 4 – 7 PM at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca.
Roger Louis Schendel was born March 5, 1939 to Milton and Lillian (Kemis) Schendel in Milaca, MN. He served in the US Army for two years. Roger worked as a bus driver, cattle hauler and gas transport driver. After a serious truck accident in 1984, Roger was inspired to expand his business, Schendel Saddle Shop into the grand store it is today. It was a place where he loved to indulge in conversations and make new friends. You could always count on him for a good Ole and Lena joke. He was well known at the area sales barns and in the Milaca community. Every pickup he owned had those identifiable smokestacks on them. Over twenty years ago, he met his partner, Loaune Foster, whom he loved and lived with until the end of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and grandchildren. He passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019.
He is survived by his loving partner, Loaune Foster; sons, Mike (Marlell) of Stacy and Tom (Renee) of Maplewood; grandchildren, Courtney, Cole, Josh and Sam; great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Axton; sisters, Hazel Vandenberg of Foley, Mona (Frank) Ketzeback of Oak Park and Marie (Bob) Larsen of Andover; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Cliff, Gordon, Howard, Robert and Richard and two sisters, Gwen Vaillencourt and Dorothy Schendel.
