A celebration of life for Stanley Eugene Unger will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 1 – 5 PM at the Borgholm Township Hall, 16401 70th Ave., Milaca, MN. Sandwiches provided by Bob and Laura Lynch. Refreshments will also be provided. Feel free to bring a side dish or dessert to share.
Stanley was born on December 26th, 1977 in Mora, Minnesota to Stanley and Ava (Julene) Unger, and graduated Milaca High School in 1996 where he excelled in building trades and shop classes. In his youth, he was active in Boy Scouts and carried these skills into adulthood, and was able to build campsites in the woods with whatever was available. Friends will also remember the backpack Stan always carried and how he was always prepared for every situation. Stanley enjoyed camping and snowmobiling trips with family and friends. Being in the woods was always Stan’s favorite place to be. He will be remembered for his love of nature, his willingness to jump in and help others, and a quick wit that kept everyone laughing.
Stan was known as a dedicated worker, and worked in construction since graduating high school, working hard to build countless homes for others. As much pride he could take from his work, nothing compared to the pride he felt over being the father of his two girls, Emma and Skylar. He carried his love for his girls for his whole life— from the moment they were born, to his last breath and beyond.
He is survived by his parents, Stan Sr. and Ava (Julene) Unger; daughters, Emma and Skylar Unger; sister, Kimberle Unger; grandmother Norma Cox, long-time friends Justin Carlson and Shane Johnson, and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. Stan is preceded in death by his grandparents, LeRoy and Lorraine Unger; grandfather Darrell Cox; uncle Matthew Cox, and uncle Alywin Unger.
