Travis Lee Calander, age 41, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. Travis was born October 4, 1983 to Steven and Carin Calander. He grew up in Onamia, MN and graduated from Onamia High School, it was there that he met and fell in love with his wife Sally (West) Calander. They have spent many wonderful years together, marrying on September 6, 2008. One of the proudest moments of Travis’s life was becoming a father to Corbin (15) and Haylee (13). As a family they loved spending time fishing at the family cabin. Travis enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting and ATVing. He especially liked fishing quietly in a bay, then surprising us with a whopper. Travis’s smile was contagious, his kindness and willingness to help others made him a friend to many. Travis worked in many trades, as a teen he was an assistant cook at Chicos and then a handyman helper. He worked for Woodline Sawmill in Onamia and later Heggie’s Pizza in Milaca before moving with his wife and children to East Bethel. Most recently he enjoyed working at Lare’s Corp. in Cambridge and talked about his wonderful friends and co-workers there.
Travis has left us with our memories from those beginning, happy baby moments, his youth, school years and as a man raising a family. He will be remembered for his kind and loving personality, his ability to make people smile and will be thought of often by all who knew him.
Travis is survived by his wife Sally; children Corbin and Haylee; parents Steven and Carin (Carpenter) Calander; siblings Chad (Shanna) Calander, Trisha (Travis) Schauer, Lonna (Andrew) Christensen along with many nephews and nieces. Travis had a close relationship with his in-laws and will be truly missed by mother-in-law Amy West; sister-in-law Dina (Cody) Mickle and brother-in-law Alex Lutz and many aunts and uncles who loved him.
Travis is preceded in death by his beloved and favorite grandmother Adonna Carpenter who will hold him in her arms until we can be with him again; grandfather Clair Carpenter; grandfather Denford Calander; grandmother Loyda Calander; uncles, cousins and friends.
