Memorial services for Vernon Quam, age 91, of Milaca, will be held Friday, November 23, 2018 at 4 PM at Milaca United Methodist Church with Pastor Joyce Slostad officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Vernon Samuel Quam was born February 26, 1927 to Herman and Mary (McClean) Quam at Clarkfield, MN. He was united in marriage to Delores Fredericks on March 13, 1954 at Mason City, IA. He served in the US Army during World War II in the Calvary Division. Vernon received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Army of Occupation Medal Japan and the Victory Medal. He was self-employed in drywall and painting. He enjoyed farming, fishing, beekeeping and horse back riding. He passed away at his home on October 30, 2018.
He is survived by his wife, Delores; daughters, Susan (Paul) Eddins of Columbiana, AL, Mary (Andy) Pesota of Elk River, MN and Joy (Mitch) Yell of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Michael Eddins, Daniel Pesota, Nicholas Yell, Samantha (Jordan) Schmidt, Eric Yell and Alexander (Emily) Yell; nephews, John and Russell Swonger and Thomas Thompson and niece, Vicki Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald Quam and sisters, Pearl Sundrol, Ione Messier, Marion Swonger and Harriette Simpson.
