Violet (VandenEinde) Rens

January 16, 1927 — October 29, 2019

Funeral services for Violet (VandenEinde) Rens, age 92, of Milaca, will be held Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 11 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease.  Interment will follow at Pease Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 PM Friday at the church and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Violet Lorraine Droogsma was born January 16, 1927 to John and Minnie (VanDeRiet) Droogsma.  Vi passed away into the arms of her heavenly Father on October 29, 2019 at the age of 92.

Vi graduated from Milaca High School in 1944 and from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a teaching certificate.  She taught school in New Era, Michigan and the Community Christian School of Pease.  She was a lifetime member of the Pease Christian Reformed Church and was actively involved with Mother’s Club and Mission Circle.

Vi and Herman VandenEinde were married on July 8, 1947 at the Pease Christian Reformed Church.  They worked side by side on their dairy farm east of Pease.  During the winter months, they thoroughly enjoyed riding snowmobile, but upon retirement, they left the snow in the winter and went to Arizona.  There, they played a lot of golf, card games, and had great times with friends in the RV park.  They lived at the farm until Herman passed away in 1995.  Following Herman’s death, Vi moved to her new townhouse in Milaca.  She made many new friends and continued to live independently and entertain family and friends there until she moved to Country Meadows Assisted Living in February of 2017.

On March 16, 2000, Vi was united in marriage to Les Rens in Sun City, Arizona.  They spent the winter months in Sun City, but once the snow was gone in Minnesota, they returned to Milaca.  They loved entertaining their friends and golfing.

Vi always loved watching the Twins, Vikings, and college football games; enjoyed playing card games and visiting with people.  Many family members and friends received dish towels she meticulously embroidered which were “the 7 days of the week theme”.  She was faithful in reading her devotions and praying for those near and dear to her, her entire life.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents, John and Minnie; husbands, Herman and Les; brothers, Del, Donald, Lyle, Melvin, and sister, Arlene.

She is survived by her children, Barb (Bruce) Ruis of Denver, CO, Dallas (Joann) VandenEinde of Grand Rapids, MN, and Jerry (Debbie) VandenEinde of Payson, AZ; grandchildren, Michael (Christina) Ruis, Jason (Brook) Ruis, Jamison (Tiffany) VandenEinde, Annika (Michael) Olson, Kris (Erica) VandenEinde, Josh (Heather) VandenEinde, and Dylan VandenEinde; great-grandchildren, Carter, Mason, Lenna, Cooper, Vance, Macklin, Gabriel, Matthew, Serafina, Ariela, Ryan, and Austin; sister, LaVonne Hubers; brother, Stanley (Eleanor) Droogsma; sisters-in-law, Carol Droogsma and Garda Droogsma; as well as many nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Memorials are preferred to the 125Campaign of the Pease Christian Reformed Church.  This is their expansion project that Vi was very excited about and supportive of as soon as it was announced.
