William Albert Hirsch

Memorial mass for William Hirsch, age 76, of Onamia, will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 11 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church in Foreston.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

William Albert Hirsch was born January 1, 1943 to Kenneth and Marcelline (Studer) Hirsch in St. Paul, MN. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Peterson and they had three children together.  After Jeanette passed away, Bill met Gertrude Petrin and they were married on September 23, 1993. 

Bill worked as a truck driver for Wayne’s Transport for over thirty years until his early retirement. Bill had a passion for gardening and birds.  He also loved fishing the ocean on the beaches of south Texas.  Bill was well known for being a very kind and generous man and also very detail oriented.  He had a sense of humor that snuck up on you.  Bill will be remembered as a loving father to his three children and a treasured brother.  He was a good friend to all.

He passed away Friday, June 14, 2019 after a brief battle with cancer at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Brainerd.

He is survived by children, Billy Hirsch (Amy Udermann) of Foreston and LuAnn Swanson of Flagstaff, AZ; son-in-law, Joe Leaf of Milaca; many grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren;  siblings, Eileen Wiedewitsch of Spring Lake Park, Janet (Dave) Culbertson of Brainerd, James (JoAnne) Hirsch of St. Cloud, Marge Maier of Bradenton. FL, Ken (Eloise) Hirsch of Aitkin and Cheryl Himsl of Golden Valley;  step-daughters, Kathy (Bob) and Becky (Bob);  step-sons, Rodney (Mary), Duane (Julie), Robert and Ronald; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents;  first wife, Jeanette;  second wife, Gert;  daughter, Denise Leaf;  brothers-in-law, Daryl Partridge and Gerald Wiedewitsch and step-father, Francis Brunn.
